A life in print - Pete Roberts 1946-2025
“My printing career began in 1964, as an apprentice compositor in North Wales, learning methods of printing that hadn’t changed for centuries – hand-setting lead type into lines and pages. Over the years huge advances in technology have led to much faster production techniques, and new skill sets have become necessary.
These days the majority of our work is a diverse range of commercial printing, using high-speed digital and lithographic presses. However we still enjoy fulfilling orders for high-quality letterpress print, using hot foil, embossing and thermographic (raised) print.”

We sadly lost Pete in November 2025, he was the founder of Cotswold Letterpress, and we miss his leadership, dedication to providing top quality printing, his humour and habit of spontaneously bursting into song at any given moment.

Many people have asked what the future holds for Cotswold Letterpress following the very sad passing of our Managing Director and much-loved “Captain,” Pete Roberts.
Pauline, Dave, Sam and Jenny would like to reassure all our customers that Pete’s legacy will continue. The business remains very much open and operating from our High Street premises in Wotton, and we are committed to maintaining the standards, values and craftsmanship that Pete cared so deeply about.
Cotswold Letterpress has long been known for producing high-quality print across a wide range of techniques, and much of our work focuses on a diverse range of commercial printing using high-speed digital and lithographic presses.
Alongside this, we continue to take great pride in producing beautiful letterpress work, perfect for your special event, including hot foil, embossing and thermographic (raised) printing — skills that remain close to the heart of our business.

Cotswold Letterpress is based in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, on the beautiful Cotswold Way.
Our company is known for quality printing across a wide range of print options, including litho, letterpress, digital, duplexing, hot foil stamping, embossing and thermography. We print a wide variety of items such as folders, brochures, marketing materials, business cards, stationery, greeting cards and luxury invitations.
